Is it possible to live in a stress-free world? If you ask most people this question, they would immediately answer, “no.” Our lives are complex. We try to balance work, family time, our children (and their activities,) and our social lives. We try to do all of this in 8-12 hours per day. While we may manage, we cannot say it is not stressful.

What is a family?

Before you can address ways, online or otherwise to help you create and maintain a stress-free life; we must first identify who the family is.

There was a time when we only considered a family to be a mother, father, and their children as the family. But as the world changed, so did the definition of family. A family may be a single parent with children. Custody may be split between both parents, meaning the children live in two homes. Extended family may be heavily involved in their lives. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends all tie into the circle of making your life whole and manageable.

Tools that help life moving

Here are some tips that will help you use online tools to help everyone understand what is expected of them:
  • Make sure everyone in your circle has an email account or at least a cell phone will accept and send messages.
  • Fill out your online calendar every week, but if there is a conflict, make sure you send a revised copy to the family. All changes must be entered in red. Be sure to follow up if the changes are not acknowledged.
  • NOTE: while filling out your calendar, consider travel time, meals, and expenses. Be careful not to overextend your time and money. Make sure you allow time for relaxing and being together. That time is just as important as any activity on the family agenda.
  • Go natural! Learn about the world of essential oils. There are all natural oils that can help keep your home stress-free. They can help with sleep, energy, focus, and help you plan your life in a way that works. Read more here.
  • Ask if your child’s teacher has a website for children that explains projects and assignments.
  • Limit online social time and television time. Encourage your children to use the educational site set up for them This will help with many things they must learn, in a way that is fun and challenging. Here is one example of such a site.

Talk About it - You are the parent!

Even toddlers can use a smartphone or a tablet. But, with a toddler, it is pretty easy to know what games they are playing. Still, by the time a child is 8 or 9 years old, they know their way around the internet pretty well.

Before you allow access to the internet to your child, talk about it. Tell them what they are and are not allowed to do. Tell them to watch for and not to talk to anyone unless you have viewed the post and given permission.

There are parenting blockers on most programs. Learn about your system. Set it up so that keywords automatically alert you. Know your children’s passwords. If someone begins to bully them, address it from day one. Do not take the stand that all kids get picked on. It is different today. The internet takes the bullying to everyone who wants to see it and it destroys young lives.

If you use the online programs that are there to help you, you can reduce the stress in your families lives tremendously. It is easier than you think. Just give it a try.
